DR EDNIN HAMZAH
Dr. Ednin Hamzah is a distinguished physician and a leading figure in palliative care, serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Hospis Malaysia since 1997. Under his leadership, Hospis Malaysia has become the largest community palliative care service in the country, providing comprehensive care to patients with life-limiting illnesses. Dr. Hamzah earned his medical degree from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1986 and initially pursued a career in General Practice in the United Kingdom. His commitment to palliative care led him back to Malaysia, where he has been instrumental in advancing the field through clinical practice, education, and advocacy. In addition to his role at Hospis Malaysia, Dr. Hamzah serves as the Chair of the Asia Pacific Hospice Palliative Care Network (APHN), contributing to the development of palliative care services across the region. Dr. Hamzah is actively involved in teaching palliative care at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in several universities. He has been a plenary speaker at various conferences, including the Malaysian Hospice Council Congress, where he shares his expertise on palliative care practices and healthcare ethics.
