PROF. DR SAZZLI SHAHLAN KASIM

Prof. Dr. Sazzli Shahlan Kasim is a distinguished figure in the field of cardiology, serving as a Professor of Medicine and the Head of the Medical Discipline at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Malaysia. He also leads the Cardiology Unit within the Faculty of Medicine at UiTM. As a National Specialist Register (NSR) certified trainer in Cardiology, Prof. Dr. Sazzli has been instrumental in advancing cardiology education and training in Malaysia. He played a pivotal role in the development of UiTM's teaching hospital in Puncak Alam, Selangor, aiming to elevate the standards of cardiovascular care in the region. Prof. Dr. Sazzli's academic journey began with an MBBCh, BAO, and BMedSc (Honours) from the National University of Ireland, Cork, in 2001. He subsequently completed his training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology, earning the Certificate of Satisfactory Completion of Specialist Training (CSCST) from the Irish College of Higher Medical Training in 2011. His professional affiliations include fellowship with the European Society of Cardiology (FESC) and membership in the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (MRCP). An active researcher, Prof. Dr. Sazzli has contributed significantly to the field of interventional cardiology, with his work receiving over 3,100 citations. He is also involved in several guideline committees pertinent to his field and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology.
